Abstract

Current lifestyles do not allow for the practice of physical activity or healthy eating habits due to the workday and distances to travel. Physical Education teachers are not the exception. The studies presented on article had the objective of evaluating the physical-sporting practice and eating habits of Physical Education teachers. It had a descriptive, transversal, retrospective and survey character. The sample in chain was constituted by 19 professors. The results show that physical-sporting practices are high among teachers, but only half of them constantly exercise. The three most practiced activities are: soccer, basketball and softball. Despite this, overweight and obesity were found. The main obstacles to the realization of physical activity are: injuries, lack of time, spaces and personal commitment. On the other hand, dietary habits are characterized by a high intake of animal products, fast food, high in fat and salt. There is little consumption of fruits, vegetables and natural water. In conclusion, physical education teachers have insufficient physical-sport habits, suffer from overweight or obesity. It is necessary to reinforce the formation of positive physical-sporting and eating habits that favor a healthier life.
