Effects of relative age on female soccer players
Main Article Content
Abstract
Soccer is one of the sports with more relative age effects worldwide and where less production is evidenced in female samples. The objective of this research is to identify the effects of relative age in the U-17 female teams participating in the FIFA World Cup (India, 2022). The present research is a descriptive observational study. The data were analyzed by continent and playing position using the chi-square statistical test. The results allowed us to identify the presence of these effects in the women's teams participating in the U-17 World Cup. No effect of relative age was found for the analysis by playing positions, but a trend was observed for the selection of players in the first half of the year, especially for the goalkeeper and defense positions.
