Mental health of Club Deportivo Haitiano en Biobio members, a looking from the integration
Main Article Content
Abstract
The poor or no integration of immigrants in sports contexts can be a problem for their mental health. Immigrants may be affected by the low participation of foreigners in sports spaces in the host country. This research was carried out with the aim of analyzing how the practice of football favors the mental health of the members of Club Deportivo Haitiano en Biobío, in Concepción 2021. The research is qualitative, with a explanatory scope. The technique used to analyze the data was the triangulation from information collected from participant observation, semi-structured interviews and bibliographic sources. Among the results obtained is the understanding of sport as part of the haitians health, the fair play of the Haitian Sports Club players and the language barrier presented by the Haitian population, thus hindering interaction with chileans. We concluded that for Haitians the Club Deportivo Haitiano en Biobío is a space that allows them to get out of their routine, establish support and contact networks, live their culture and speak their language; and finally identify with their peers and feel part of a group.
