Abstract

Taekwondo is one of the priority sports for the sports development of Cuba, but the lateral preference of its athletes is not known in its national team, nor what relationship this establishes with the levels of offensive technical mastery during combat. The objective of this research is to analyze the levels of offensive technical mastery of the Cuban national taekwondo team during their competitive activity. It constitutes a descriptive case study. The main results obtained were that in both sexes there is a preference for the use of the right side of the body and a predominance of turns in that direction, with an excessive volume of actions during combat, together with a high level of work with the dominant hemisphere and the middle zone of the body, which affects the possibilities of offensive variants of these athletes, with an almost non-existent work of kicking techniques with spin.
