Behavior of cortical activation in artistic gymnastics athletes
Main Article Content
Abstract
Artistic gymnastics is a competitive and coordinated art sport that requires the development of physical capabilities through stimulating training of different functional areas of the body and the central nervous system; As part of the psychological control of sports activity, it is essential to know the behavior of the levels of different psychophysiological responses of the athlete to the planned training loads to determine if there is overtraining or, on the contrary, the need to increase them. The research aimed to verify the behavior of cortical activation levels after the delivery of load stimuli, in high-performance gymnasts, during the transformation cycle of consecutive training. The methodological design was quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest on the sample composed of 15 athletes who underwent a total of 1692 measurements of cortical, pre and postload activation levels in each of the sessions, in order to determine the relationship between cortical activation levels before and after assimilation during the first training cycle. By studying the critical frequency of ocular fusion, using the Flicker test, a significant increase in these levels was evidenced in the later stage.
